Job Description

ACLED is recruiting a Human Resources Officer to support the development and implementation of ACLED’s policies and procedures. This is a full-time position. It is fully remote and can be done from any location with reliable internet service. The start date for this position is June 2021. This position reports to the HR Coordinator. Only those with the legal authorization to work in the US (citizenship, permanent residence, or work permit) can apply, even if they do not plan to be residing in the US. Specific roles and responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems
  • Support recruitment by preparing job descriptions, posting ads and managing the hiring process
  • Maintain correspondence with applicants and current employees and consultants
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Support training and development programs
  • Assist in performance management processes
  • Support the management of disciplinary issues
  • Maintain employee records according to policy and legal requirements
  • Support internal communication and social events initiatives
  • Perform other administrative HR tasks

Skills and competencies:

  • Fluency in English (essential)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good judgment and extremely high attention to detail
  • Ability to work remotely and meet deadlines with limited supervision
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and multicultural office (preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, psychology, nonprofit management, international relations, or a related field (essential)
  • Experience in a similar role (working in human resources, office administration or management, counseling or case work for a non-profit) – (preferred)
  • Experience working in peacebuilding, conflict, human rights, and/or global affairs (preferred)
